Where am I going?

Kingsmills Hotel, in Inverness on Friday February 2nd 2024.

What time should I arrive?

There is a pre-ball drinks reception, sponsored by Diageo, at 6.45pm.

The ball will start at 7.15pm.

What should I wear?

The Press Ball is a black-tie event, so formal dress is expected. 

Should I eat before I come?

The event includes a three-course dinner. This year's main course is vegetarian.

When are the Awards presented?

The Highlands and Islands Media Awards will be presented from 7.30pm.

Who sponsors HIPBMA?

Principal sponsor of the 2024 event is Diageo, with support from Kane Partnership, Statkraft, Chivas Brothers, National Union of JournalistsHighlands and Islands Enterprise, Hub North Scotland, Highland Tourism, Inverness Chamber of CommerceDP Digital Media and Bòrd na Gàidhlig.

If I don’t get an award, will I be able to win something else?

We will be holding an auction, raffle and tombola to raise money for four Highlands and Islands charities, see here.

Will there be dancing?

A ceilidh will break out after the dinner which follows the awards, with our resident band, The Black Isle Peas.

When will all this end?

Dancing finishes at midnight. The Ball closes at 1am on Saturday 3rd February. Last orders at the bar will be 12.45am.
